The Whole Idea: Fall Roughwater Paddling Experience and Clinic
Small to medium sized crew of 15 participants who want to work on and apply their more advanced/rough water skills out on the Minnesota Northshore with coaching from experienced advanced paddling coaches. This a chance to join the Superior Sendies crew from YouTube in the action and banter as we spend an epic weekend paddling our favorite local spots, ready to find some gale given goodness on Lake Superior.
We'll cross our fingers for some classic fall sea states on western Lake Superior, anticipating that we will primarily focus on surfing and paddling in current, with always the option to practice open water skills, exercises, and rescues. The MN "Northshore" is a playground for sea kayakers during the Fall. With many options and opportunities depending on the weather and rivers. We're going to plan for the perfect amount of rain for the rivers and wind for just the right swell across the lake, generating infamously rough seas.
We’re attempting to make this clinic as accessible, affordable and simple as possible while offering high level coaching by ACA certified L5 & L4 instructors.
We decided that the long holiday weekend would be great for folks traveling from out of town, ultimately leaving more time for being on the water.
Prerequisites are the ability to perform a self rescue and or have a reliable roll on flat water.

Dynamic Venues:
Some of our favorite paddling spots along the Minnesota shore of Lake Superior. Beach breaks, River Mouth “tide races”, Cliffs and Caves. And sometimes during the Fall depending on river levels, current and a surf wave.

Accommodations:
Participants are responsible for lodging in the town of Two Harbors and food for the weekend. Two Harbors has a large grocery store, several hotels, airbnbs, restaurants, and cafes.
The gist is we will spend a late morning on the water, have lunch while out, and make our way back to home base for group dinner out at an open restaurant.
We will send out a coordination email after registration so folks can try to stay near or in the same hotel, lodge, cabins, etc.
Kayak rentals are available for $50

7+ days before the date of the event, you can cancel and receive a full refund or reschedule.
1-6 days before, cancellations are eligible for a 50% refund, reschedule with no fee is available.
